Total investments in the electronic communications sector last year amounted to 91.5 million euros, of which the operators Crnogorski Telekom, Telenor and M: tel invested about 82 million euros in the development of networks and services, the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services announced. (TEAM).
“This confirms that mobile operators in Montenegro in the previous period have continuously worked on the modernization and improvement of their mobile communication networks with high data rates,” reads a statement posted on the EKIP website.
In November and December last year, EKIP, in accordance with its legal authorizations, performed measurements of mobile network quality parameters for voice and data transmission services.
During the measurement campaign, about 5.5 thousand kilometers were covered in cities and on roads. Measurements were made on the move, ie in urban parts of all municipalities in Montenegro, as well as on more important roads.
A specialized measuring vehicle of EKIP was used for measurements.
The measuring equipment was set up to make calls to voice machines installed in the networks of mobile operators, then data transfer to some of the most visited sites in Montenegro, as well as data transfer to and from the appropriate test servers.
EKIP said that the results of measuring the quality parameters of voice and data transmission services in public mobile electronic communications networks in Montenegro, showed a high level of quality of mobile services in urban areas and on important roads.
“It was found that the availability of data and voice services is at a very high level when it comes to cities, while along the roads some parameters had slightly lower values than those in urban areas, which was to be expected, given the terrain configuration along the roads along which the measurements were made “, said the EKIP.
Based on the obtained results, looking at the samples measured on the roads and in the urban parts of the municipalities, it can be concluded that the data and speech transmission services were enabled, ie they were successful in more than 95% of cases.
Looking only at the urban parts of the municipalities, data and voice services were successful in more than 99 percent of cases, while these road services were enabled and were successful in more than 90 percent of cases.
After analyzing the measurement results, it was concluded that the quality and availability of mobile broadband data transmission services was further improved last year, primarily due to the expansion of LTE signal coverage of all three mobile operators and the introduction of LTE-Advanced technology with aggregation of LTE carriers in several bands.
You stated from EKIP that at the end of last year, the number of base stations that enable LTE technology (4G) at Telenor was 364, Crnogorski Telekom had 254, and M: tel 140 base stations that enable LTE technology.
