Contracts to export 2.38 million tonnes of rice signed

In the first days of the year, Vietnam’s rice export enterprises have signed a lot of big contracts to export 2.38 million tonnes of rice at the price of US$480 – 665 a tonne, higher than that in 2008, according to the Vietnam Food Association.

So far, 87,666 tonnes of rice worth over US$38 million have been exported.

In the Mekong Delta, the unhusked rice is currently sold at VND 5,600 – 5,700 a kilogram, the 5% finished broken rice in bulk and at ex-ship is sold at around VND 8,600 – 8,700 a kilogram while the 25% broken rice, VND 8,100 – 8,200 a kilogram.
